John William Houghton

My father worked for Fielding and Platt before WW1. I think that he was possibly an apprentice: are there any records existing which would clarify this?

His full name was John William Houghton. He was born in Gloucester in 1898 and served on HMS Centaur 1917-1919.

As my father was born in 1898 and joined the Royal Navy in 1917, it is almost certain that he would have been at F & P during that early war time period.

I also remember him having referred to a Bill Price who was the best man at his wedding. This took place at St James’ Church, Gloucester, December 27, 1924 and the marriage certificate refers to him as William Jesse Price.

It is possible that he, too, might also have been a Fielding and Platt employee.

Any further information would be gratefully received.

Does anyone have any information about John William Houghton, or possibly even a scanned image of him?  If so, you can either add a message below, or create a new page about him.
