  • Hi, some missing names – back row Bruce Shretty (surname spelling not correct, but close). Missing names L – R, front row – Dave Ralf, ? ,Terry Gladwin, Chris Bird. There was a third football team – Fieldings Dynamos, that played in the Sunday afternoon league and was mostly made up of Apprentices.

  • Cheers Tony, with two teams in the league there must have been no shortage of support for you on match days! I’ve always wondered if there were any special chants or songs the Fielding’s teams had?

  • Cheers Tony, you sound a formidible team! Am I right in thinking that Fielding’s had two teams in the Sunday League? Fielding and Platt (the first team) and Atlas Works Athletic (the second team)? Did you ever play each other and what happened when you did…?!

  • Yes, there was an Atlas team which, as you say, did play in the Sunday League. I cannot remember playing against them but we may have done.

  • Yes, that’s me in goal. Date around late 1960s. Fielding’s had a very good Sunday league football team, always challenging for league and cup honours. As for clean sheets, I did have some.

  • Thanks for adding this photo Tony – what a bitterly cold and windy day it looks! D’you remember (even roughly) what year this photo was taken? Mid 1970s? Is that you in goal? What was your record like that season? Many clean sheets?!
