During the late 60’s I remember competing in the Inter Company Apprentice Road Race. The event was held on a Sunday morning and consisted of teams of about six apprentices from each company ( Permali, Williams & James, Telehoist, Dowty and Smiths – there may have been more ). I believe the start was at Permali and there was a combination of running and cycling from company to company, finishing up at Smiths. I remember cycling in from Cinderford on the Sunday morning ( I was fit then !!!!!). My stint was from Dowty at Staverton to Telehoist in Cheltenham going via Stoke Orchard. I can’t remember where we finished but perhaps someone can recall the event and add more information.
