My Husband’s Mother was Arthur Fielding’s niece. I have been to visit Pippa & she gave me your sister’s address, so I will contact her as well. Many, many thanks, Audrey

  • Hi Andrew, good to hear from you and I’m glad you’ve found the site. I look forward to many more contributions to it from you! Naturally, we’re delighted that the Fielding family are pleased with and proud of this website. It’s an ongoing project and more material is being added all the time so check back in when you can!

Thanks for your updates to the Family Tree – I’ll make those alterations in due course.

As for sending on more information and photographs, as you know you can add information to the site directly, including photographs and documents.

However, should you want to send on copies of documents the photographs for us to preserve at Gloucestershire Archives you can send them by email attachment (in either .jpeg or preferably .tif format) to oliver.taylor@gloucestershire.gov.uk or fieldingandplatthistory@gmail.com .

If you want to send original hard copies of documents or photographs to be preserved with us then the address is Gloucestershire Archives, Clarence Row, Alvin Street, Gloucester, GL1 3DW, England, UK.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and to seeing some of those wonderful photos etc.! All good wishes, Ollie

  • Hi Audrey, my name is Andrew J. L. Fielding, son of F James (“Jim”) Fielding. I live in Perth, WA, Australia and I left Fielding and Platt in 1970.

I have been in touch with Ollie Taylor at the Gloucestershire Archives and I intend to send him more info when I can. I would like to update the Fielding Family Tree with my Wife and two daughters. My Wife is Jill Maree Fielding (nee Hale). My daughters are Grace Joy Fielding b. 6/2/91 in Darwin, N.T., Australia, and Sophie Diana Fielding b.11/3/94 in Perth, WA, Australia. My birthdate is also incorrect ! It is 7/2/1950.

My sister Druscilla L Fielding (married name Bruton) has been a great help and has put me in touch with Ollie Taylor as well, she has contributed to this great website and it’s truely a great effort and a wonderful thing to be a part of, as Fielding and Platt was certainly a great engineering firm producing some amazingly innovative machines.

We the family and I am sure so many Gloucester people who were a part of it all, are very proud of the website and display at Gloucester Quays, which are showcasing its incredible past!

I am currently working in the Australian Offshore Oil and Gas Industry and as soon as I am able, I will send on more info and photos. Who is the point of contact here? I will also keep Ollie Taylor in the loop as well. Kind Regards, Andrew J.L. Fielding.
