We are sorry to have to report that Ernie passed away in late February this year (2022) at the age of 95. His Funeral Service took place on Friday 25th March at Gloucester Crematorium. Ernie, like many other members of his family, loyally served the Company over many years, contributing much as they did so.
Ernie’s rugby roots were firmly planted when he started to play in the Fielding Rugby team in the 1940’s.
He was one of a small number of skilled machinists who were selected to operate the 5RM Asquith Boring machine, the largest machine tool ever purchased by the Company. Ernie is shown in the last photo of this collection. A study in concentration!
