  • Hello Mal, of course I remember you! How are you keeping mate, hope you are well? Do you ever have any contact with any of our old workmates from tyre mill? I never have Mal, you are the first!
Anyway, great to hear from one old colleague at least. All the best Malcolm.

Ed: Thanks, Trevor, for looking through our website and posting a note to Malcolm. Hopefully, others will join in. John B

  • Hi Trevor.
My name is Malcolm Dent. I also worked on this mill while I was a trainee. Then went on to the hammer as Bill Yorke’s bogey lad and ended up as your Dad’s firer before redundancy in the early 80’s. My Uncle, Eric Dent, worked as a machinist next door, through the tunnel.

Ed: Many thanks, Malcolm, for getting in touch with Trevor. Please note that any other contemporaries you may know are also welcome to add their memories to this page. John B

  • I worked on this Ring Rolling m/c in the 1970/80s. These photos brought back many fond memories. I wonder if any former workmates of mine who worked alongside me have also discovered this amazing site? Although I am now 68 it’s likely many older colleagues may have sadly passed on. The foreman’s name was Harry Wall and the department manager was Frank Mountain. My name is Trevor Levick and my late dad, who started work there in 1945, was called Fred. Anyone from my past reading this?

Ed: Trevor, thank you for your posting and the kind words about our website. I am pleased we were able to identify the correct machine, the subject of your earlier enquiry. We aim to please!! John B
