John Seddon started his working life as an apprentice at Fielding and Platt in 1977 aged 17. He joined the company straight from school after expressing an interest in engineering and was taught the basics at the purpose-built training centre at the Atlas Works.
Here in this selection of clips, John explains how he got the job, recalls what the docks and social scene were like at the time, and talks about some of the more memorable times he had at the firm.
