Racking my brain trying to remember names and faces, but I feel sure that to the right of Terry Cooper, (Back row 1st from the right), is Douglas James.
Did a search for my name and it came up with “no result found”. Does this mean that archived data is incomplete? I still have my Apprenticeship Indenture records which I can scan and forward to you if you feel that will help to update the records.

There is no register of F&P former employees and the search engine on this site is only likely to pick up your name should you have featured in a story or made an audio recording. However, your name does feature every time you submit a comment to a story, or a photo as in this case. John B

Thank you for posting my comments, however, looks like I made a mistake in identifying Jim Simpson.
Jim Simpson is 3rd from the left in the front row and not 2nd from the left.
Glad to hear that Roger Beard and Mike Witcombe are still both well. Please give them my regards next time you see them.

Hi, my name is Anatolij (but known as either Tom, or Tony) Blyzno and I was also in the 1957 intake, but unfortunately there is absolutely no mention of my being part of the Fielding and Platt work force. I have taken a close look at the group photo and wish to make some corrections and additions.
Apprentice in back row to the left of Roger Beard, I am pretty sure is Ivan Donaldson, and in the front row 2nd from left is Jim Simpson. Cannot remember who is on the right of Tony Tanner. I finally worked in the electrical design office together with Roger Beard and Mike Witcombe. I remember other senior engineers in the electrical office but they were not part of the 1957 apprentice intake. I emigrated to Australia in 1968.
Ed: Hi Tom, many thanks for adding your info to the photo. I have added Ivan Donaldson’s name to the list. You may be interested to know that I met with both Roger Beard and Mike Witcombe at a coffee morning recently and both are going strong! John B
Thanks Tony! I’m afraid we’re missing the 1951 & 1952 intake photos so if you know someone who might have one that would be very helpful.
It would be good to know a more about your brother – how he came to be instructor, the things he said about being one and about working at Fielding’s, and any other memories or stories of his time as an instructor there. Front row, 4th from the left, is Gerald Williams, my older brother (I believe this was his first year as an instructor). He had entered the F&P Apprentice School in the 1952 intake (I think) – any photos from 1951 or 1952?
Thanks Alan – did you start your apprenticeship in the 50s too? I meant to ask: did you do anything in the Craft School with Bert that helped prepare you for your work in the Pipe Shop later?
