It’s so interesting to hear that you were at Fielding’s in 1950 and we’d love to hear more about your experiences there then and what your training involved. I’ve not heard of anyone else spending time at Fielding’s on such a course so your insight is so important and unique. I wonder what you remember of the people you mention too – Bert Ravenhill, Graham Nash, and Mark Phillips?

Memories came back with utmost delight when I came across this page and saw the photograph of the Apprentice Intake of 1950. I was fortunate to have been accepted by Fielding and Platt for eight month’s practical training at Atlas Works as a part of an Electrical Engineering Diploma course of Faraday House Electrical Engineering College London (June – December 1950). I vividly remember rubbing shoulders with most in the photo. Although I could not remember and tie names to all the faces, I instantly recognized and remembered the names of Bert Ravenhall, Graham Nash, and Mark Phillips. I wonder if any one from the group will remember me? I am Kantilal Patel of Indian origin and was then known as “Pat” or “Patel” or “K.D.” currently retired and residing in New Zealand.
