Later on in my life l worked at Englehard Industries. I made parts for the crown that Prince Charles wore at his investiture as Prince of Wales. I also made parts for the Royal Navy when using a 100 ton Bentley press at Ross on Wye.
Ed: Thanks, Ernie, for sharing this with us. John B
We try to find the pressure vessels manufacturer named Marston Excelsior Ltd., Wolverhampton, England. Does this producer exists or not? We want to order their the new vessels similar as it was in 1965. Please write enerin@telecom.by
I am looking for photos of apprentices at Marston’s or any photos of the site from the 1960s.
Hi John! I left Marston’s in 1966 having been there for about 5 yrs. This press was in the heavy gauge workshop. I started in light gauge and transferred to heavy gauge working on prototype Titanium, Zirconium and Tantalum. Also helped to build Shackleton and RB211.
I was a cop in London but returned to engineering finishing up as a Senior Production Engineer at Rank Zerox.
Hi Ernie! Many thanks for adding your information. A varied career! John B
I was an apprentice at IMI and knew this press very well.
Hi Ernie! It’s brilliant that you have found our website. How come? Did you work with this press and can you recall what products were produced from it?
After completing your apprenticeship did you stay in engineering, or move elsewhere? John B
Hi Chippy! This one is a bit more difficult. I expect that you are correct since you identify most of the people correctly. Impossible to say without zooming in and studying each one in detail. Well done! John B
Hi John! In this photo I think I can identify some people. The very thoughtful looking person on the right of the press looks like Stan Willets? To the left of the press it looks like Albert Dawe talking to Joe Pinkney, and behind them maybe Fred Rossiter?
