Tony Tanner was the scrum half for the team. I remember one of Jim Haines’ favorite sayings was: “no matter how big they are, they can’t go without their legs”.

The player on the right hand side of the middle row was Tony Tanner.

Ollie, Jim Haines was the back bone of Atlas rugby team as a player, manager, and coach. Jim was the guy that kept the club alive, he was Mister Rugby to us.
As regards the scrum cap not sure where it came from and did not wear it very often.
The player next to Terry Cooper in the middle row is Johnny Wogan.
The man in the top row, right-hand side, is E Marsh.
Thanks Alan – I’m glad you found this page – I was going to draw your attention to it because I thought it might be you in the middle of the back row in the scrum cap…?! Is it?! Wearing a scrum cap in those days must’ve been quite modern – I wonder why you did? I wonder what memories you have of the squad that year? and also what Jim Haines was like as a coach?! No one’s talked about him in this capacity yet.
