This wooden model was probably made as a sales aid at the tendering stage of a contract for the supply of a complete shell manufacturing plant.

Fielding & Platt was awarded a major contract for the supply of hydraulic presses and ancillaries including the air/water hydraulic accumulator station and pumps necessary to drive the presses.
