Another photograph taken in the Craft Selection School. Six of the infamous steel blocks can be seen. These had been reduced to 1.75 inches cube from 2.00 inches cube with much pain and suffering, as described numerous times elsewhere.
The hammer in the photograph was used to stamp the blocks ‘passed’ by the apprentice instructor. Each surface of the block was appraised as the work progressed. When it had been satisfactorily completed it was stamped by the apprentice instructor with a small triangular mark.
The old type telephone, partly shown here, had a dial but in addition had six toggle switches which enabled a connection to anyone of twelve preselected persons or offices. Can anyone remember using one of these?
