Ron Curtis talks about his photograph of Bert Hopton, Brian Mince and Charles Hill's son.

Here Ron names the people in his photograph.

They are: Ron Curtis, a smartly dressed gentleman called Mr Hill who came to Fielding and Platt to gain some engineering knowledge, Brian Mince, and Bert Hopton. Mr Hill was the son of a man called Charles Hill who was a ship builder.

  • I think this was Michael Hill. The original Charles Hill had a son also called Charles.
    Looks like Michael would have been born maybe during the 40’s, perhaps great-grandson of the second Charles.
    I worked in the drawing office of Charles Hill in the early seventies.

  • I believe Mr Hill had the same christian name as his father – Charles. The year was 1960.
    I also believe the shipyard was in Bristol.
