Reunions

THE FIRST REUNION OF 2019  took place on Saturday 2nd March at Gloucestershire Archives. It took the form of a Coffee Morning between 10.00am and 1.00pm.  Ollie Taylor welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming. Those attending numbered just in excess of 50. Two short films were shown. The first was made at the first ever Reunion, which took place at the R.A.F.A. Club in Spa Road in April 2003. The second was made on F & P Sports Ground in Sudmeadow Road in the late 1940’s to which had been added a sound track of Ron and the late Margaret Yardley speaking about the Sports Day when they first met.. It was in the 3 legged race!

During the morning Brian Mince read out the names of ex Colleagues who had died since the previous reunion last summer. They were George Claridge, Philip Cook,  Fred Rossiter, Len Gapp, Janice Suckling, Jeff Hogg, Mollie Harris and Elsie Lane.

Janet Davis served teas and coffees and Paul Evans was kept busy supplying flasks of hot water. Ken Daniell brought along a number of glass slides of Gloucester. Thank you Ken for donating these to the Archives.  From the sale of photographs and key rings and the generosity of those attending, the princely sum of £210 was collected. Thank you everyone. This will go a long way to funding the next Reunion which will take place in the summer, more than likely at Hardwicke Village Hall again.
